Why choose recycled plastics?

Purchasing recycled plastic products is an easy step that organizations can take to demonstrate the delivery of policy on sustainability. Recycled plastic products offer the following environmental benefits:

The purchase stimulates demand for recycled raw material, closing the loop and diverting material from landfill sites.
Recycled plastic structures do not require preservatives, treatment, or painting, thus reducing the use of these toxic products.
Recycled plastic materials are completely inert and will not leach chemicals into water or soil, even in wet environments.
Recycled plastic products may be fully recycled again. Factory off-cuts obtained during product manufacture are recycled.

Installation and Use

For the installation of recycled plastic structures it is recommended that only contractors who are experienced in installing this product are used. Although recycled plastic behaves similarly to wood, there are some necessary differences in construction methods. For load bearing structures (bridges, walkways, benches, etc) the span must be determent for each structure taking into consideration expected loads and dimensions of the materials being used. Additional supports from alternative materials may be required to support larger spans.
